2023 Provisional Notices: The provisional staffing and funding notices will be available tomorrow, Thursday, 22 September, and will be combined into one document for 2023 called the Provisional roll and resourcing entitlement letter. It will be available in the school data portal and updated fortnightly. The amended format provides an easy-to-read summary of 2023 staffing and funding information, including equity funding.
Also in the data portal tomorrow will be your 2023 equity funding notice. This includes information on how your funding is calculated. |
2023 Roll Review:
If you have evidence that your 2023 provisional roll is likely to be higher than what the Ministry of Education has estimated, you can apply for a provisional roll review before 18 November 2022. More information on how to request a provisional roll review can be found by clicking the button below. |
2023 Annual Budget:
Once the provisional entitlement letter has been made available in the School Data Portal, please download it and then upload to the "2023 Accts / Budget" folder in Google Drive.
We will be preparing the 2023 Budget Template reports for our regular monthly Schools over the next few weeks, so these will soon be available in Google Drive. A 2023 Budget Chalkboard will be coming soon, which will provide further information about how to complete the budget templates.
If you are not one of the schools we generally assist around the budget, but would like us to prepare a Budget Template report for your School, please contact Allison Henderson via admin@afsl.nz. |

THE AFS TEAM AT XEROCON 2022 |
Recently, a few of us here at Accounting For Schools attended the 2022 Xerocon Conference in Sydney, Australia; the ultimate conference for all things Xero and often referred to as the Coachella for accountants!
During the conference, we heard from many inspiring speakers and industry experts, attended breakout sessions, connected with Xero partners, and learned about the latest industry trends and Xero product & app developments to stay ahead of the game.
Now that we have returned to the office, we're excited to put what we have learned into action with many new tools and ideas on how we can help you incorporate technology solutions to achieve more control, clarity, and efficiency, helping you get the most out of your Xero subscription.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing our key learnings from the conference in more detail, so keep an eye out on our Facebook page, where we will be posting these announcements. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy a few snaps from the conference & our time in Sydney below! Who says accountants don't have fun? |
XERO TIP OF THE MONTH: HOW TO USE TRACKING EFFECTIVELY |
Have you used the Xero tracking feature yet?
Setting up tracking categories will allow you to report on on different aspects of your school (such as departments, activities or specific cost centres). This way, your reports can help you make proactive financial decisions.
Tracking also makes your chart of accounts more manageable as you only need one code for each expense that can be used by all of the departments (rather than English stationery and Maths stationery etc.). To setup up tracking categories:
If you would like any assistance setting this up please contact our team on 04 909 7729. |
