"It is proposed that the Brightline test will reduce to two years, effective from 1 July 2024"

HAPPY NEW (Financial) YEAR

As we head towards the finish line of the 2024 financial year on 31 March, you may be thinking about preparing for your end of year stocktake, writing off any bad debts from your Accounts Receivable ledger, or setting some goals for the year ahead.  There are a few proposed changes that are likely to take effect from 1 April 2024 that we thought would be good for you to be aware of.  Some of these changes are currently included in a bill before Parliament and are expected to be reported on by the end of March 2024.

End of Year Reminder

For many of our clients 31 March represents the end of another financial year.

Stock Take

Please remember to count your stock, especially if they are of the grass eating type! It is so much easier to count the ones outside in the paddocks now, than it is to rely on memory.

Bad Debts

Bad debts must be written off before you close off your debtors ledger at the end of the financial year.

Haven’t heard from MAQ for a while, or waiting on an important email from us? We may be in your Spam folder!

With unsolicited and unwanted email becoming a larger problem, email services have made their spam filters more stringent. Unfortunately, these tougher guidelines for filtering can cause legitimate emails to be mistaken as spam.

It's easy to fix, just whitelist us! Whitelisting a sender will make sure that messages from a specific email address are always sent to your email inbox.

Whitelisting is a quick, one-time-only task to ensure the sender of an email gets added to the recipient’s address book or safe senders list. Usually, all you need to do is open an email message and verify the sender can be trusted. Here are simple instructions on how to ensure that future emails get delivered straight to the inbox, in some of the most popular email clients:

Apple Mail (OS X and iOS devices)

Outlook 20XX

Outlook.com

Yahoo! Mail

Gmail (Webmail and mobile)

Android (Default client)

Windows Live Desktop>

AOL Mail

Getting to know Carlee Springford

Having lived in Whangarei her whole life Carlee joined MAQ in August 2019. She is part of the Xero team that implemented the firms move to Xero and enjoys helping other staff and clients with Xero.

Carlee loves reading and is known to finish books in a day, if given the chance. In fact her family rarely buys her books as presents now, after one year where she ignored everyone for half of Christmas. She plays hockey for Hikurangi and is looking forward to the start of the season and cooler weather.

Office Life

Congratulations Kirsty Taylor for obtaining your Certificate of Public Practice!

Mark & Aaron have been doing the hard yards climbing Mount Parahaki....not so sure about the time, may need to check your watch batteries boys!

Chinese New Year was a blast with Danrui & Michelle teaching the team how to make traditional Chinese Dumplings....now the team needs to climb Parahaki!

Pepper's pups have all left home, except Sage. She loved the Hendrikse and MAQ family so much she decided to stay!

For the sports fans in the office Super Bowl day was too hard to ignore. The big screen got moved, so they could all keep up with the score!
