CONNECTING CLIENTS TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR CENTS

Makes Cents Newsletter August 2024

Delwyn our new Accountant & Client Advisor is in residence, and we can feel the impact already.  If you are passing by, call in and meet her.  Lots of things going on in the Accounting & Tax areas now and a lot of activity from Inland Revenue doing reviews on client returns that are filed.

Financial Statements & Tax Returns - Bound Copies

We are going to do away with bound copies of your financial statements and income tax returns as standard procedure.  A lot of the banks are wanting electronic copies and so are many of you.  So, our standard practice will be that once you have signed your financial statements, income tax returns and any resolutions, we will email you a signed copy for your records.

Don’t panic though if you really want a bound copy, we can still do it for you, just let us know and Bernice will sort it for you.

2024 Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns

We have had a few enquiries about when to get your 2024 work in. The answer is now. We are getting through the 2024 work and have the usual urgent requests for Banks etc. If everyone leaves it to the last minute and brings it in in December or into the New Year, it makes it hard to get it completed by 31st March.

Provisional Tax Due 28 August 2024

The first payment of 2025 provisional tax is due for a lot of you on 28 August 2024.  We will email out the reminders of the amount for you to pay later today and tomorrow.

We are also contacting Inland Revenue for any of you who have lost your extension of time over the last few years to get it reinstated.

Family Boost

Family Boost is the new childcare payment to help eligible households pay for the cost of early childhood education (ECE) for under 5’s.  If your household income is under $180,000 a year, then you may be entitled to the payment or a part thereof.

For example, if your household income is under $140,000 then the amount refunded is $975.00 paid quarterly.

To make the claim you need to register in myIR from mid-September and in October lodge your receipts.

So, the important thing is to make sure you are keeping your receipts from 1 July 2024 so you can claim in October.

We will have more on this in future newsletters once Inland Revenue opens the registration process in myIR.
