Christmas is coming…

In case you need reminding, Christmas is just under 4 weeks away!

If your business shuts down for the festive season, here are 4 simple things to remember to do before closing:

  • Let your customers know your hours - you can do this on your website, in your newsletter, on your Facebook and Instagram pages. Or by email, phone, or in person!
  • Set up out of office email and voicemail messages - this avoids confusion with unanswered emails and calls. You can always add an alternate phone number or email address for urgent enquiries.
  • Schedule social posts - post your Christmas hours and a message, as well as scheduling other posts for the period that you are away.
  • Check for any outstanding accounts - you still need to pay your wages and rent during the break, so make sure the cash coming in is sufficient. Follow up any overdue customer invoices before Christmas.

On that note, our office will be closed from Friday the 20th of December 2024 and re-opens on Monday the 13th of January 2025.

If you need any assistance during this period, please contact your friendly Walker Wayland team member - if they are not available, they will offer an alternative contact.

Company Annual Returns

All companies are required to file an annual return with the NZ Companies Office once a year. This is a simple form, confirming the details of the company, such as the directors, shareholders and company addresses.

It is important that this return is filed every year. If it is not filed on time, the Companies Office will assume that the company is no longer required, and will take steps to remove it.

This clearly has significant ramifications if you are still in business.

Some of our clients file their own returns, and some have us do this for them. We use a programme called CAS360 to keep track of all the company annual returns that are due.

If you receive an email that looks like the one below, please don't ignore it or automatically assume that it is spam.

If you are concerned that it might not be a genuine email, please give your friendly Walker Wayland team member a call to confirm its' authenticity.
