The team at Makes Cents is delighted to announce that we have a new team member starting on 1 August 2024.  Delwyn has moved down from Hawkes Bay to Upper Hutt to be closer to family and is an experienced Accountant and Business Consultant.  She will be able to help you with all your questions and emails, as well as ease Maurice’s workload.  This will allow us to prepare your financial statements & incomes tax returns in a timelier manner, and deal with your issues a lot quicker.  It has been a 15-month search, but we have wanted to find the right person to help us provide a more efficient and broader range of services for our clients.  We can’t wait until the 1st  August.

From 31st of July 2024 the personal income tax thresholds will increase as follows:

So, this means that every income earner over $14,000 will get a tax cut. 

If you employ people you need to make sure you are paying the right rate and deducting the right amount of tax with these changes.  If you use payroll software like MYOB, Xero or Smartly they should be updated and ready to go by the 31s July 2024, so you don’t need to do anything.  For other payroll software providers check that the software is being updated, and if you are not using software now would be a good time to talk to us to decide which software to use.
